Pastel Instructions

Pastel is a clean and professional WordPress theme with a fluid layout. It is designed to enable you build your WooCommerce store with ease.

Theme installation

Unzip file pastel_unzip_first.zip that you downloaded from us and install pastel.zip file. Read more how to install a theme → 

Required plugins

WooCommerce: This plugin is required if you are planning to sell your products or services.

Jetpack: This plugin is required for infinite scroll for blog posts, projects and WooCommerce products. Also it enables the social media sharing buttons in your products and posts.

WooCommerce Blocks: This plugin is needed if you want to display the featured categories in the front page.

Contact Form 7: This plugin is required to create a contact form. The theme includes styling for this plugin.

Please install these plugins before importing the demo content.

Making theme look like demo

Inside the package you will find a file named pastel.WordPress.xml that you can use to import the demo content. Read more how to make theme look like the demo 

Adding a logo image

Go to Appearance → Customize → Site Identity to add a logo image or edit your site title or tagline. Learn how to update your site identity 

Setting up the menus

This theme has three menu locations, the Primary Menu (main menu), Front Menu (the menu below the front page widget) and Footer Menu. Create menus and assign them to each of the available locations. Learn how to setup WordPress menus 

Header section

In the left side of the header, there is a hero widget. Add a text widget or any other widget type. In your Dashboard go to Appearance → Widgets and add a heading and a paragraph block to the top widget location.  Learn how to add widgets 

Below the widget there is a stylish menu. Create a menu with with two items (or more) and assign to the Front Menu location.  Learn how to setup WordPress menus 

In the right side of the header the theme will display the Header Image by default. In your Dashboard go to Appearance → Customize → Header Images. Add the images you want to display. You can add more than one and randomize them. The images will show in the header in the front page.

If WooCommerce is installed and activated, a carousel will automatically display featured products. You can feature products by highlighting the ‘★‘ icon in the right of each product when viewed as list, by going to Products → All Products in your Dashboard.

You can also disable the carousel.  In your Dashboard go to Appearance → Customize → Theme Options and check the box to Display header image instead of featured products.

Configuring the front page

In the front page below the header image, this theme will display the latest posts by default. You can assign a static page to display in front instead of the latest posts. Learn how to display a static page in front 

Services section

You need to add the Services block pattern that is designed for this theme. After adding it you can edit all the text, add images etc. Learn how to add block patterns 

Cover pattern

Below the services section you can add the cover pattern that comes with this theme as explained above.

Partners section

This theme comes with another pattern that will help display logos of your partners or brands. Go to the Patterns section and as many Partners block patterns as you want as explained above.

* Note that you can add other blocks with titles, paragraphs and spacers between each pattern as in our demo.

Featured product categories

This section requires for you to have installed the WooCommerce Blocks plugin as explained above. After installing the plugin, WooCommerce featured categories will be available for you to add as blocks on page. Add as many as you like and add an image to each block.

WooCommerce

The theme does not need any special settings for WooCommerce, it is setup to work out of the box.

To add the filtering panel that is displayed in the product and category pages, you need to add the filtering widgets to the WooCommerce Widgets location. Learn how to add widgets 

JetPack plugin

Infinite scroll displays an Older Posts button or pulls the next posts automatically into view when the reader approaches the bottom of the page instead of the default post navigation. This feature requires Jetpack plugin installed. Learn how enable Jetpack infinite scroll 

To add sharing buttons to your products go to Jetpack Settings and select the Sharing section.

Enable the sharing buttons and click on the link to Configure your Sharing buttons. You will be taken to the WordPress com website. There you can select which sharing buttons to enable and in which post type to display them.

Make sure to have them display only as an icons in the bottom.

Block patterns

This theme comes with four pre-designed blocks that you can use anywhere in your website. View all patterns

Editing colors

You can edit most colors of this theme under Appearance → Customize → Colors.

Widgets

  • Top widget: Visible in the header section in the home page.
  • WooCommerce filters: Product filter widgets visible in the shop and category pages.
  • Footer widgets: Widget section in the footer.
  • Blog featured images: 1300px wide with flexible height.
  • Header images: 1000x100px.
